The Amistad Research Center is the
nation's oldest, largest and most
comprehensive independent archive
specializing in the history of African
Americans and other Ethnic Minorities.
Using the Collections

The Amistad Research Center is a closed-stack, non-circulating research facility. Therefore, all researchers are required to provide a valid photo ID and complete a Researcher Registration Form. Researchers should familiarize themselves with the following policies and forms prior to their visit. However, these forms are also available at the Reference Desk upon visitation. As some collections are not yet accessible or are stored at an offsite facility, researchers are encouraged to contact the Reference staff prior to visiting the Center in order to communicate their research needs.
