Scope and Contents: The Russell L. Stockard Sr. collection focuses on athletics at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and collegiate athletic conferences with strong HBCU memberships. The collection is comprised of three main formats of material: media guides, prospectus, and similar publications for specific athletic teams at individiual schools; game/event programs; and materials related to specific athletic conferences. Conferences represented include the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Association (MEAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
