Physical Description: Good condition
Scope and Contents: The collection consists of clippings, church bulletins, financial records, instructional materials, invitations, maps, minutes, notes, photographs, programs, reports, documentary evidence of the interests and affiliations of Dr. Tilley.  His involvement with committees for improvement of working and living conditions among blacks in Maryland and in the larger area of this country can be gleaned by perusal of the letterheads on which some of the correspondence is written.  An item of particular interest is his pamphlet size "History of the Negro in Chicago."  The instructional records indicate his continuing example of the need for ministers to take the gospel to the people in formal and informal ways.  Some of the data included directly relates to his involvement in the struggle for fuller Civil Rights, so that a broader dimension may be given to the man and his work.  Among the correspondents are Ralph Abernathy, Thomas D'Alesandro, Anthony DiDomenico, Mabel Gee, Mae R. Gellman, Lillie Mae Jackson, Gerald E. Knoff, Theodore R. McKeldin, Clarence Mitchell, Jr., Juanita Jackson Mitchell, Carl Murphy, and William Strassner.
