Scope and Contents: The papers of Albert and Jessie Dent include correspondence, writings, reports, programs, news clippings, photographs, invitations, honors and awards, and collected items. The collection relates mostly to the career of Albert W. Dent as superintendent of Flint-Goodridge Hospital, his community activities, and his tenure as president of Dillard University. A few items relate to his wife, Jessie, honors accorded her, as well as the Ebony Fashion Fair. Of interest is an inscribed copy of a booklet by Langston Hughes. Correspondents include: Edwin Embree, John Hope, Florence M. Read, and Jesse Thomas.
