Scope and Contents: Chakula cha Jua (McNeal Cayette) is a native of New Orleans and a dramatic artist, teacher, poet, storyteller ,and actor; he also works in the Orleans Parish schools as a drama artist and theater arts program coordinator for children. He is a United States Air Force veteran and attended the University of New Orleans. He established his own theater company, the Chakula cha Jua Theater Company in 1985. His papers include correspondence, drawings, essays, plays, information regarding various theaters and productions he has been involved with, and an oral history conducted by Clifton H. Johnson.
