The Amistad Research Center welcomes groups interested in touring the reading room and art gallery exhibition. Reservations are required for all visiting groups. Tours are free.

Guided tours are available during our regular hours. However, due to staff constraints and out of respect for researchers, all tours must be scheduled in advance, preferably with at least two weeks notice. Scheduling tours early is highly recommended. Please schedule adequate travel and parking time for visits. Tours over 30 minutes late may not be accomodated.

The Amistad Research Center can accommodate up to (but no more than) 25 people during a visit. Please be aware that we do not have seating for 25 people in our reading room. If there are any members of your group who cannot stand for a 15-minute period, let the Center know ahead of time how many people will need chairs. If you have a large group and live in the New Orleans area, please contact the reference desk about the possibility of a staff member coming out to speak to your group. This option is contingent upon staff coverage at the Center.

SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS
The Amistad Research Center has long been a resource for students and teachers, providing exciting educational experiences.

— Teachers and group coordinators are required to provide chaperons for every student group, with one chaperone per ten students.

— When scheduling your tour, please indicate your need for any assistance for students with disabilities.

— Please inform the Center, in advance, if your group has a specific area of interest.
